Visit from Young Amateur Radio Operators from the USA
June 4, 2026
On June 4, 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming two visiting amateur radio operators from the United States to our radio club.
The visitors were KD4ZXA and KD4ZXE, two brothers from the Atlanta area in the state of Georgia. Both are licensed amateur radio operators and recent high school graduates who are currently enjoying a well-deserved trip before continuing with their future plans and studies.
It was a pleasure to meet them and hear about their experiences in amateur radio. We hope they enjoyed their visit to Iceland, the beautiful scenery, and the opportunity to meet fellow radio amateurs during their travels.
We wish both of them every success in their future endeavors and thank them for taking the time to visit us. Safe travels and best of luck in the years ahead!

Visit to TF4M in Otradalur
Year: 2005
In 2005, we, Sigurður Óskarsson (TF2WIN) and Þorsteinn Valdimarsson, had the privilege of visiting Þorvaldur Stefánsson (TF4M) at his home in Otradalur in the Westfjords of Iceland.
Þorvaldur welcomed us with great hospitality and generously showed us his impressive radio communications room as well as his extensive antenna farm. It is no exaggeration to say that what he has accomplished is truly unique on a global scale. Few amateur radio operators have built a station of such scope and dedication entirely through their own efforts.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Þorvaldur for the warm reception and generous hospitality he extended to us during our visit. It was an unforgettable experience to see firsthand the result of decades of passion, hard work and commitment to the hobby.

About Þorvaldur TF4M
Þorvaldur Stefánsson (TF4M) was born in Reykjavík, Iceland, in 1955. He began his communications career as a radio operator at Icelandic coastal ship-to-shore stations before serving as a Field Service Communications Officer in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations.
During a distinguished twelve-year career with the United Nations, he served in several conflict zones around the world, including South Lebanon, the former Yugoslavia, Abkhazia and East Timor. After returning to Iceland, he purchased a large farm property in the Westfjords, seeking a quieter life and a chance to recharge through hard work and the creation of a forest on his land.
Beyond amateur radio, Þorvaldur has a deep passion for landscape and seascape photography. Working primarily in black and white, he focuses on capturing the rugged beauty of the Westfjords, a region he considers unmatched in its natural splendour.
